Test the door’s balance
If your garage door is not balanced, the door opener will need to work harder and won’t last that long. To check the balance, disconnect the opener by pulling the red cord or release handle. Move the door manually halfway. If it does not stay put, the garage door springs are not balanced. If the springs need adjustment, refrain from doing it yourself.
Replace both extension springs
Having both extension garage door springs replaced at the same time - even if only one is broken – is a must. If you only replace one, the other will follow soon and you will pay twice for labor work and so you will face the same problems twice.
Choose strong materials
Even if the weather is mild in your region, it's good to have strong garage doors. After all, they must protect you from burglaries, too. Our experts recommend durable materials but also strong support with low gauge steel brackets and tracks. Strong garage doors can withstand anything.
